Biography of Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet 1652-1724

In 1645 [his father] Henry Firebrace (age 26) and [his mother] Elizabeth Dowell of Stoke Golding in Leicestershire were married.

In 1652 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet was born to Henry Firebrace (age 33) and Elizabeth Dowell of Stoke Golding in Leicestershire.

In June 1659 [his mother] Elizabeth Dowell of Stoke Golding in Leicestershire died.

In 1664 [his father] Henry Firebrace (age 45) and Alice Bagnall were married.

On 6th September 1671 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 19) and Elizabeth Hough Lady Firebrace were married at St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map].

On 3rd January 1676 [his daughter] Hester Firebrace Countess Desmond and Denbigh was born to Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 24) and [his wife] Elizabeth Hough Lady Firebrace.

In 1680 [his son] Charles Firebrace 2nd Baronet was born to Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 28) and [his wife] Elizabeth Hough Lady Firebrace.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." In 1687 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 35) was elected Sheriff of London.

On 9th December 1690 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 38) was elected MP Chippenham. The election was declared void one year later. He won the rerun election but was unseated him in favour of Thomas Tollemache (age 41) on 22nd January 1692.

On 27th January 1691 [his father] Henry Firebrace (age 72) died.

On 22nd June 1695 [his son-in-law] Basil Feilding 3rd Earl Desmond 4th Earl Denbigh (age 27) and [his daughter] Hester Firebrace Countess Desmond and Denbigh (age 19) were married. She by marriage Countess Desmond and Countess Denbigh. He the son of William Feilding 2nd Earl Desmond 3rd Earl Denbigh and Mary Carey Countess Desmond and Denbigh.

In 1698 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 46) was created 1st Baronet Firebrace of London by King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 47). [his wife] Elizabeth Hough Lady Firebrace by marriage Lady Firebrace of London assuming she was alive in 1698.

After 1701 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 49) was imprisoned for stabbing a creditor.

Before 20th February 1712 [his son] Charles Firebrace 2nd Baronet (age 32) and [his daughter-in-law] Margaret Cordell were married.

On 7th May 1724 Basil Firebrace 1st Baronet (age 72) died. His son [his son] Charles (age 44) succeeded 2nd Baronet Firebrace of London.
