The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 27th June 1748 Bennet Sherard 3rd Earl Harborough (age 38) and Elizabeth Verney (age 28) were married at St James' Church, Piccadilly. She the daughter of Ralph Verney 1st Earl Verney (age 65). He the son of Philip Sherard 2nd Earl Harborough (age 68) and Anne Pedley Countess Harborough (age 73).
On 16th February 1750 [his mother] Anne Pedley Countess Harborough (age 75) died.
On 20th July 1750 [his father] Philip Sherard 2nd Earl Harborough (age 70) died. His son Bennet (age 40) succeeded 3rd Earl Harborough, 3rd Viscount Sherard, 5th Baron Sherard of Leitrim, 3rd Baron Sherard of Harborough.
On 2nd July 1757 Bennet Sherard 3rd Earl Harborough (age 47) and Frances Noel Countess Harborough (age 17) were married at St George's Church, Bloomsbury. She by marriage Countess Harborough. The difference in their ages was 30 years. He the son of Philip Sherard 2nd Earl Harborough and Anne Pedley Countess Harborough.
On 21st March 1761 Bennet Sherard 3rd Earl Harborough (age 51) and Margaret Hill Countess Harborough (age 31) were married at St Martin in the Fields Church [Map]. She by marriage Countess Harborough. He the son of Philip Sherard 2nd Earl Harborough and Anne Pedley Countess Harborough.
In 1767 [his wife] Margaret Hill Countess Harborough (age 37) died.

She by marriage Countess Harborough. The difference in their ages was 31 years. He the son of Philip Sherard 2nd Earl Harborough and Anne Pedley Countess Harborough. They were fifth cousin once removed.
On 23rd February 1770 Bennet Sherard 3rd Earl Harborough (age 60) died. His brother [his brother] Robert (age 57) succeeded 4th Earl Harborough, 4th Viscount Sherard, 6th Baron Sherard of Leitrim, 4th Baron Sherard of Harborough. Jane Reeve Countess Harborough (age 29) by marriage Countess Harborough.
