Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Around 1487 Bishop Rowland Lee aka Leigh was born.

Marriage of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn

On 25th January 1533 Henry VIII [aged 41] and Queen Anne Boleyn of England [aged 32] were married by Rowland Leigh [aged 46] at Whitehall Palace [Map]. Anne Savage Baroness Berkeley [aged 37], Thomas Heneage [aged 53] and Henry Norreys [aged 51] were present. She the daughter of Thomas Boleyn 1st Earl Wiltshire and Ormonde [aged 56] and Elizabeth Howard Countess of Wiltshire and Ormonde [aged 53]. He the son of King Henry VII of England and Ireland and Elizabeth York Queen Consort England. They were fifth cousin once removed.

Sometime after the marriage Eleanor Paston Countess Rutland [aged 38] was appointed Lady in Waiting to Queen Anne Boleyn of England. She would go to serve Henry's next three wives.

Annales of England by John Stow. King Henry privily married the Lady Anne Boleine in his closet at Whitehall, on the five and twentith day of January [1533] being S. Paules day: Mistresses Anne Savage [aged 37] bore up Quene Annes traine, and was her selfe shortly after married to the lorde Barkeley [aged 28], doctor Rowland Lee [aged 46], that married the king to Queene Anne, was made Bishop of Chester, then Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield1, and president of Wales.

Note 1. The see of Coventry and Lichfield was for a time known as the see of Chester; Lee was Bishop of Chester aka Coventry and Lichfield.

Anne Boleyn's First Appearance as Queen

Wriothesley's Chronicle [1508-1562]. 12th April 1533. Memorandum: the 12th day of Aprill, Anno Domini 1533, beinge Easter eaven, Anne Bulleine [aged 32], Marques of Pembroke,d was proclaymed Queene at Greenewych, and ofired that daie in the Kinges Chappell as Queene of England.e

Note d. Anne Boleyn was raised to the dignity of Marchioness of Pembroke on Sunday, September 1st, 1532, at Windsor Castle, an honour which had never before been conferred on any unmarried female.

Note e. She had been some months preriously married to Henry VIII in great privacy by Dr. Rowland Lee [aged 46], afterwards Bishop of Lichfield and Coyentry, but whether the marriage took place, as Sanders says, November 14th, 1532, on their arrival at Dover from France, or was deferred, as Cranmer [aged 43] [?] supposed, to January 25th, 1533, still remains uncertain.

In January 1534 Bishop Rowland Lee aka Leigh [aged 47] was appointed Bishop Coventry and Lichfield which at the time was known as Bishop of Chester.
