Biography of Bishop Welbore Ellis 1651-1734

Around 1651 Bishop Welbore Ellis was born to Reverend John Ellis (age 45).

In 1681 [his father] Reverend John Ellis (age 75) died.

In 1696 Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 45) was appointed Prebendary of Winchester.

On 22nd September 1705 Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 54) was translated to Bishop of Meath, with a seat on the Irish privy council.

On 22nd September 1705 Prebendary Welbore Ellis (age 54) was appointed Bishop of Kildare with the deanery of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin in commendam.

Before 26th June 1707 Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 56) and Diana Briscoe were married.

On 26th June 1707 [his daughter] Anne Ellis was born to Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 56) and [his wife] Diana Briscoe.

On 15th December 1713 [his son] Welbore Ellis 1st Baron Mendip was born to Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 62) and [his wife] Diana Briscoe.

In 1724 Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 73) published "The Dean of Dublin, Plaintiff, Archbishop of Dublin, Defendant, upon a Writ of Error-the Defendant's Case".

On 29th May 1733 [his son-in-law] Henry Agar (age 31) and [his daughter] Anne Ellis (age 25) were married.

On 1st January 1734 Bishop Welbore Ellis (age 83) died. He was buried at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin [Map].
