Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans
Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

Said to be at the Nag's Head Coffee-House James Street although this may have been the location of the reception. He the son of [his grandfather] Nicholas Knollys 3rd Earl Banbury and [his grandmother] Anne or Abigail Sherard.
On 30th April 1702 [his father] Charles Knollys 4th Earl Banbury [aged 39] and [his mother] Mary Woods [aged 18] were married at St Bride's Church, Fleet Street. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of [his grandfather] Nicholas Knollys 3rd Earl Banbury and [his grandmother] Anne or Abigail Sherard.
On 26th March 1703 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury was born to [his father] Charles Knollys 4th Earl Banbury [aged 40] and [his mother] Mary Woods [aged 19]. He was baptised on 14th April 1703 at St James' Church, Piccadilly.
On 9th May 1722 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 19] matriculated Christ Church College, Oxford University.
In 1725 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 21] graduated with a Master of Arts degree.
In 1725 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 21] graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
On 28th December 1725 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 22] and Martha Hughes [aged 21] were married at Nursling, Hampshire. He the son of Charles Knollys 4th Earl Banbury [aged 63] and Mary Woods [aged 41].
On 21st October 1726 [his son] William Knollys 6th Earl Banbury was born to Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 23] and [his wife] Martha Hughes [aged 22].
On 16th December 1727 [his son] Thomas Woods Knollys 7th Earl Banbury was born to Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 24] and [his wife] Martha Hughes [aged 23]. He married 30th March 1761 Mary Porter and had issue.
Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 26th August 1740 [his father] Charles Knollys 4th Earl Banbury [aged 78] died at Dunkirk. His son Charles [aged 37] de jure 5th Earl Banbury, 5th Viscount Wallingford, 5th Baron Knollys.
In 1750 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 46] was appointed Vicar at St John the Baptist Church, Burford which office he held for life.
On 30th March 1761 Thomas Woods Knollys 7th Earl Banbury [aged 33] and Mary Porter [aged 18] were married at St Thomas Church, Winchester. He the son of Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 58] and Martha Hughes [aged 57].
On 12th May 1762 [his mother] Mary Woods [aged 78] died.
On 13th March 1771 Charles Knollys 5th Earl Banbury [aged 67] died. He was buried on 19th March 1771 at St John the Baptist Church, Burford. His son William [aged 44] de jure 6th Earl Banbury, 6th Viscount Wallingford, 6th Baron Knollys.
Around September 1771 [his former wife] Martha Hughes [aged 67] died.
