Biography of Charles William Wyndham 1760-1828

On 12th March 1751 [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont (age 40) and [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont (age 25) were married. She by marriage Countess Egremont.

On 8th October 1760 Charles William Wyndham was born to [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont (age 50) and [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont (age 34).

On 21st August 1763 [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont (age 53) died. His son [his brother] George (age 11) succeeded 3rd Earl Egremont, 5th Baronet Wyndham of Orchard in Somerset.

In 1767 Charles William Wyndham (age 6) educated at Westminster School [Map].

On 5th July 1771 [his brother-in-law] Henry Herbert 1st Earl Carnarvon (age 29) and [his sister] Elizabeth Alicia Maria Wyndham Countess Carnarvon (age 18) were married. She the daughter of [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont and [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont (age 45).

On 30th August 1776 [his brother-in-law] Charles Marsham 1st Earl Romney (age 31) and [his sister] Frances Wyndham (age 21) were married. She the daughter of [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont and [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont (age 50).

On 30th March 1782 Georgiana Augusta Frederica Seymour was born to King George IV of Great Britain and Ireland (age 19) and Grace Elliott. Alternatively she may have been the daughter of George Cholmondeley 1st Marquess Cholmondeley (age 32); both men claimed paternity. Paternity was also claimed by Charles William Wyndham (age 21) among others. She married 21st September 1808 Charles Cavendish-Bentinck, son of William Cavendish-Bentinck 3rd Duke Portland and Dorothy Cavendish 3rd Duchess Portland.

In 1790 [his illegitimate daughter] Caroline Wyndham was born illegitimately to Charles William Wyndham (age 29). She married 8th November 1808 FitzRoy Henry Richard Stanhope, son of Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl of Harrington and Jane Fleming Countess Harrington, and had issue.

In 1790 Charles William Wyndham (age 29) was elected MP Midhurst during the General Election.

In 1791 William Henry Lambton (age 27) and [his future wife] Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 19) were married. She the daughter of [his future father-in-law] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 55) and [his future mother-in-law] Frances Twysden (age 37).

On 16th November 1793 Robert Marsham 2nd Baron Romney (age 81) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Charles (age 49) succeeded 3rd Baron Romney, 7th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent. [his sister] Frances Wyndham (age 38) by marriage Baroness Romney.

On 1st June 1794 [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont (age 68) died.

In 1795 Charles William Wyndham (age 34) was elected MP New Shoreham.

On 15th January 1795 [his sister] Frances Wyndham (age 39) died.

In 1801 [his brother] George O'Brien Wyndham 3rd Earl Egremont (age 49) and [his sister-in-law] Elizabeth Ilive Countess Egremont (age 32) were married. She by marriage Countess Egremont. He the son of [his father] Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont and [his mother] Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont.

In 1801 Charles William Wyndham (age 40) and Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 29) were married. She the daughter of George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 65) and Frances Twysden (age 47). He the son of Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont and Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont. They were fifth cousins.

In 1802 Charles William Wyndham (age 41) was elected MP Sussex.

On 23rd May 1804 [his brother-in-law] George Child-Villiers 5th Earl Jersey (age 30) and Sarah Sophia Fane Countess Jersey (age 19) were married at Berkeley Square, Mayfair. She the daughter of John Fane 10th Earl of Westmoreland (age 44) and Sarah Anne Child Countess of Westmoreland. He the son of [his father-in-law] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 68) and [his mother-in-law] Frances Twysden (age 51).

On 22nd August 1805 [his father-in-law] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 70) died. His son [his brother-in-law] George (age 32) succeeded 5th Earl Jersey, 8th Viscount Grandison, 5th Viscount Villiers, 5th Baron Villiers. Sarah Sophia Fane Countess Jersey (age 20) by marriage Countess Jersey.

On 8th November 1808 [his son-in-law] FitzRoy Henry Richard Stanhope (age 21) and [his illegitimate daughter] Caroline Wyndham (age 18) were married. He the son of Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl of Harrington (age 55) and Jane Fleming Countess Harrington (age 53).

On 29th November 1810 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 42) and [his sister-in-law] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll (age 35) were divorced by an act of Parliament as a result of his having had an affair with Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 29) whose husband Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley (age 37) also sought a divorce.

Around 19th December 1810, three weeks after her divorce, George William Campbell 6th Duke Argyll (age 42) and [his sister-in-law] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll (age 36) were married at Canongate Kirk. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey and [his mother-in-law] Frances Twysden (age 57). He the son of John Campbell 5th Duke Argyll and Elizabeth Gunning Duchess Hamilton and Argyll.

On 1st January 1812 [his step-son] John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 19) and Harriet Cholmondeley (age 22) were married at Gretna Green. She the illegitmate daughter of George Cholmondeley 1st Marquess Cholmondeley (age 62) and Unamed Saint Albin.

On 9th December 1816 [his step-son] John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 24) and Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 19) were married at Howick Hall, Northumberland [Map]. She the daughter of Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 52) and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 40).

On 10th February 1826 [his sister] Elizabeth Alicia Maria Wyndham Countess Carnarvon (age 73) died.

On 1st July 1828 Charles William Wyndham (age 67) died.

In 1832 [his former wife] Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 60) died.
