Biography of Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner 1926-2010

On 25th September 1925 [his father] Christopher Tennant 2nd Baron Glenconner [aged 26] and [his mother] Pamela Winefred Paget Baroness Glenconner [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Baroness Glenconner of The Glen in Peebles.

On 1st December 1926 Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner was born to [his father] Christopher Tennant 2nd Baron Glenconner [aged 27] and [his mother] Pamela Winefred Paget Baroness Glenconner [aged 23].

In 1935 [his father] Christopher Tennant 2nd Baron Glenconner [aged 36] and [his mother] Pamela Winefred Paget Baroness Glenconner [aged 31] were divorced.

On 21st April 1956 Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner [aged 29] and Anne Veronica Coke Baroness Glenconner [aged 23] were married at St Withburga's Church, Holkham [Map]. Bishop Percy Herbert [aged 70] presided. The guests included Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon Queen Consort England [aged 55] and Princess Margaret [aged 25]. Princess Margaret's future husband Antony Armstrong-Jones 1st Earl of Snowdon [aged 26] took the photographs. She the daughter of Major Thomas William Edward Coke 5th Earl of Leicester [aged 47] and Elizabeth Mary Yorke Countess of Leicester [aged 44].

On 15th February 1957 [his son] Charles Edward Pevensey Tennant was born to Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner [aged 30] and [his wife] Anne Veronica Coke Baroness Glenconner [aged 24].

In 1958 Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner [aged 31] purchased the island of Mustique for £45,000.

On 6th May 1960 Antony Armstrong-Jones 1st Earl of Snowdon [aged 30] and Princess Margaret [aged 29] were married at Westminster Abbey [Map]. The ceremony was the first royal wedding to be broadcast on television. She the daughter of King George VI of the United Kingdom and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon Queen Consort England [aged 59].

Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner [aged 33] and [his wife] Anne Veronica Coke Baroness Glenconner [aged 27], whose wedding the couple had attended four years before, offered them a piece of land on their privately owned island, Mustique, and agreed to build a house for the couple on the land. It was designed in 1971 by uncle to Lord Snowdon, Oliver Messel, and named "Les Jolies Eaux" aka "The Pretty Waters"

In 1989 [his mother] Pamela Winefred Paget Baroness Glenconner [aged 85] died.

On 19th October 1996 [his son] Charles Edward Pevensey Tennant [aged 39] died of Hepatitis C.

On 27th August 2010 Colin Tennant 3rd Baron Glenconner [aged 83] died. His grandson Cody [aged 16] succeeded 4th Baron Glenconner of The Glen in Peebles, 5th Baronet Tennant of The Glen and St Rollox. He had made a new will shortly before his death leaving all of his assets to an employee, Kent Adonai. The family contested this will, and after a legal battle that lasted several years the estate was divided between Adonai and Cody Charles Edward Tennant.
