Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes
Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. In 1590 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet was born to [his father] Francis Foljambe and [his mother] Frances Burdett.
Before 27th September 1600 [his father] Francis Foljambe died.
On 21st October 1614 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 24) and Elizabeth Wray Lady Walton were married.
On 24th July 1622 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 32) was created 1st Baronet Foljambe of Walton in Derbyshire. [his wife] Elizabeth Wray Lady Walton by marriage Lady Foljambe of Walton in Derbyshire.
In 1626 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 36) was elected MP Pontefract.
On or before 2nd January 1627 [his daughter] Frances Foljambe Lady Glentworth was born to Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 37) and [his wife] Elizabeth Wray Lady Walton. She was baptised at Chesterfield, Derbyshire [Map] on 2nd January 1627. She married 24th December 1646 her first cousin Christoper Wray 4th Baronet, son of John Wray 2nd Baronet and Grisilla Bethell Lady Glentworth.
In 1633 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 43) was appointed High Sheriff of Derbyshire.
Before 19th April 1638 [his wife] Elizabeth Wray Lady Walton died. On 19th April 1638 she was buried at St Michael's Church, Glentworth [Map].
On 17th December 1640 Francis Foljambe 1st Baronet (age 50) died at Bath, Somerset [Map]. Baronet Foljambe of Walton in Derbyshire extinct.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
