The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 9th August 1795 Henry Charles Sturt was born to Charles Sturt of Crichel and Brownsea Castle (age 32) and Mary Anne Ashley Cooper and Brownsea Castle.
In 1812 [his father] Charles Sturt of Crichel and Brownsea Castle (age 49) died.
In 1817 Henry Charles Sturt (age 21) was elected MP Bridport which seat he held until 1820.
On 15th August 1820 Henry Charles Sturt (age 25) and Charlotte Penelope Brudenell were married. She the daughter of Robert Brudenell 6th Earl Cardigan (age 51) and Penelope Cooke Countess Cardigan (age 50).
On 16th May 1825 [his son] Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington was born to Henry Charles Sturt (age 29) and [his wife] Charlotte Penelope Brudenell.
On 19th June 1826 [his brother-in-law] James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan (age 28) and Elizabeth Tollemache Countess Cardigan (age 28) were married. Separated in 1846. He the son of [his father-in-law] Robert Brudenell 6th Earl Cardigan (age 57) and [his mother-in-law] Penelope Cooke Countess Cardigan.
On 18th August 1828 Henry Pelham 3rd Earl Chichester (age 23) and [his sister-in-law] Mary Brudenell Countess Chichester (age 22) were married at St Mary's Church Cadogan Street. She by marriage Countess Chichester. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Robert Brudenell 6th Earl Cardigan (age 59) and [his mother-in-law] Penelope Cooke Countess Cardigan. He the son of Thomas Pelham 2nd Earl Chichester and Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne Countess Chichester (age 51). They were fifth cousins.
In 1830 Henry Charles Sturt (age 34) was elected MP Dorchester.
In 1835 Henry Charles Sturt (age 39) was elected MP Dorset which seat he held until 1846.
In 1835 Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe died. Her son Richard (age 38) succeeded 3rd Baron Howe. [his sister-in-law] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe (age 36) by marriage Baroness Howe.
In 1836 [his sister-in-law] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe (age 37) died.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In 1848 [his son-in-law] Thomas Baring 1st Earl Northbrook (age 21) and [his daughter] Elizabeth Sturt Baroness Northbrook were married.
On 10th September 1853 [his son] Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington (age 28) and [his daughter-in-law] Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington (age 21) were married. She the daughter of George Charles Bingham 3rd Earl Lucan (age 53) and Anne Brudenell Countess Lucan (age 44). They were first cousins.
On 20th September 1858 [his brother-in-law] James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan (age 60) and Adeline Horsey Countess Cardigan (age 33) were married; she had been his mistress since 1857. She by marriage Countess Cardigan. The marriage something of a scandal since James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan had left his first wife; Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom (age 39) refused to have Adeline at court. The difference in their ages was 27 years. He the son of [his father-in-law] Robert Brudenell 6th Earl Cardigan and [his mother-in-law] Penelope Cooke Countess Cardigan.
On 6th July 1865 [his son-in-law] St George Gerald Foley (age 50) and [his daughter] Augusta Selina Sturt were married. They were fourth cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 14th April 1866 Henry Charles Sturt (age 70) died.
In 1879 [his former wife] Charlotte Penelope Brudenell died.
