The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 18th November 1794 [his father] Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 30) and [his mother] Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 18) were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] William Ponsonby 1st Baron Ponsonby of Imokilly in County Cork (age 50) and [his grandmother] Louisa Molesworth Countess Fitzwilliam (age 45). He the son of [his grandfather] Charles Grey 1st Earl Grey (age 65) and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Grey Countess Grey (age 50).

On 28th December 1802 Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey was born to Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 38) and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 26).

On 9th August 1832 Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey (age 29) and Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey (age 33) were married. She the daughter of Joseph Copley 3rd Baronet (age 63) and Cecil Hamilton Marchioness Abercorn. He the son of Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 68) and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 56).

On 17th July 1845 [his father] Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 81) died. His son Henry (age 42) succeeded 3rd Earl Grey, 3rd Viscount Grey of Howick in Northumberland, 3rd Baron Grey of Howick in Northumberland, 4th Baronet Grey of Howick in Northumberland. [his wife] Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey (age 46) by marriage Countess Grey.

On 26th November 1861 [his mother] Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 85) died.

After 10th June 1863 Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey (age 60) was appointed 737th Knight of the Garter by Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom (age 44).

After 14th September 1879 [his former wife] Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey (deceased) died.

After 12th January 1887. St Mary's Church, Sprotbrough [Map]. Memorial to [his former sister-in-law] Elizabeth Mary Copley (deceased) placed by her brother-in-law Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey (age 84), husband of her late sister [his former wife] Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey.

Elizabeth Mary Copley: On 11th April 1800 she was born to Joseph Copley 3rd Baronet and Cecil Hamilton Marchioness Abercorn. On 12th January 1887 Elizabeth Mary Copley died unmarried.

Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey: In May 1799 she was born to Joseph Copley 3rd Baronet and Cecil Hamilton Marchioness Abercorn. On 9th August 1832 Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey and she were married. She the daughter of Joseph Copley 3rd Baronet and Cecil Hamilton Marchioness Abercorn. He the son of Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey. On 17th July 1845 Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey died. His son Henry succeeded 3rd Earl Grey, 3rd Viscount Grey of Howick in Northumberland, 3rd Baron Grey of Howick in Northumberland, 4th Baronet Grey of Howick in Northumberland. She by marriage Countess Grey. After 14th September 1879 Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey died.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
