The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 25th February 1713 [his father] William Paget 6th Baron Paget Beaudasert (age 76) died. On 25th February 1713 His son Henry (age 50) succeeded 7th Baron Paget Beaudasert. [his wife] Mary Catesby by marriage Baroness Paget Beaudasert.
On 1st May 1714 Henry Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 51) was appointed Envoy Extraordinary to the Elector of Hanover (age 53), the future King George I. He requested he be made an Earl but Queen Anne of England Scotland and Ireland (age 49) declined his request.
On 19th October 1714, after the succession of King George I, Henry (age 51) was created 1st Earl Uxbridge. [his wife] Mary Catesby Countess Uxbridge by marriage Countess Uxbridge.
On 6th May 1718 [his son] Thomas Catesby Paget (age 29) and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Egerton were married. She the daughter of John Egerton 3rd Earl Bridgewater and Jane Paulet Countess Bridgewater. He the son of Henry Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 55). They were fourth cousin once removed.
On 3rd November 1734 [his mother] Frances Pierrepont Baroness Geneville Beaudasert died.
On 3rd November 1734 [his wife] Mary Catesby Countess Uxbridge died.
On 7th June 1739 Henry Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 76) and Elizabeth Bagot Countess Uxbridge (age 65) were married. She by marriage Countess Uxbridge. They were half fifth cousin once removed.
On 4th February 1742 [his son] Thomas Catesby Paget (age 53) died.
On 30th August 1743 Henry Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 80) died. His grandson [his grandson] Henry (age 24) succeeded 2nd Earl Uxbridge, 8th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 2nd Baron Burton.
