The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

After 4th May 1665 [his daughter] Mary Brydges was born to James Brydges 8th Baron Chandos (age 22) and [his wife] Elizabeth Barnard Baroness Chandos (age 23)
In 1667 James Brydges 8th Baron Chandos (age 24) was appointed High Sheriff of Herefordshire.
On 6th January 1673 [his son] James Brydges 1st Duke Chandos was born to James Brydges 8th Baron Chandos (age 30) and [his wife] Elizabeth Barnard Baroness Chandos (age 30) at Dewsall, Herefordshire.
Around 20th January 1674 [his son] Reverend Henry Brydges was born to James Brydges 8th Baron Chandos (age 31) and [his wife] Elizabeth Barnard Baroness Chandos (age 31)
In 1676 William Brydges 7th Baron Chandos (age 55) died of smallpox with no male issue. His third cousin James (age 33) succeeded 8th Baron Chandos of Sudeley. [his wife] Elizabeth Barnard Baroness Chandos (age 33) by marriage Baroness Chandos of Sudeley.

On 16th October 1714 James Brydges 8th Baron Chandos (age 72) died at Aconbury, Herefordshire. His son [his son] James (age 41) succeeded 9th Baron Chandos of Sudeley, 4th Baronet Brydges of Wilton in Herefordshire. [his daughter-in-law] Cassandra Willoughby Duchess Chandos (age 44) by marriage Baroness Chandos of Sudeley.
On 26th May 1719 [his former wife] Elizabeth Barnard Baroness Chandos (age 77) died.
