Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Biography of John Aubrey 3rd Baronet 1680-1743

Paternal Family Tree: Aubrey

On 1st March 1678 [his father] John Aubrey 2nd Baronet (age 28) and [his mother] Margaret Lowther Lady Aubrey were married.

On 20th June 1680 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet was born to [his father] John Aubrey 2nd Baronet (age 30) and [his mother] Margaret Lowther Lady Aubrey.

In or before 1691 [his father] John Aubrey 2nd Baronet (age 40) and [his step-mother] Mary Lewis Lady Aubrey (age 41) were married. She by marriage Lady Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire. She the mother of the future wife [his future wife] Frances Jephson Lady Aubrey of his son John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 10). She the daughter of William Lewis of Boarstall and Margaret Banastre Duchess of Richmond.

On 17th April 1698 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 17) matriculated Jesus College, Oxford University.

On 15th September 1700 [his father] John Aubrey 2nd Baronet (age 50) died. His son John (age 20) succeeded 3rd Baronet Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire.

On 20th June 1701 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 21) and Mary Steally Lady Aubrey were married at St James' Church, Piccadilly. She by marriage Lady Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire. She his mother's maid who was pregnant at the time of the wedding.

Around 1703 William Aubrey (age 59) and [his step-mother] Mary Lewis Lady Aubrey (age 53) were married. He the second-cousin of her third husband [his father] John Aubrey 2nd Baronet. She the daughter of William Lewis of Boarstall and Margaret Banastre Duchess of Richmond.

On 9th May 1708 [his son] Thomas Aubrey 5th Baronet was born to John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 27) and [his wife] Mary Steally Lady Aubrey. He married before 4th June 1739 Martha Carter Lady Aubrey and had issue.

In 1714 [his wife] Mary Steally Lady Aubrey died.

In 1716 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 35) and Frances Jephson Lady Aubrey were married. She by marriage Lady Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire. Her mother Mary Lewis Lady Aubrey (age 66) was his step-mother.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 1st February 1725 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 44) and Jane Thomas Lady Aubrey were married at St Benet's Church, Paul's Wharf [Map]. She by marriage Lady Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire.

Before 4th June 1739 [his son] Thomas Aubrey 5th Baronet (age 31) and [his daughter-in-law] Martha Carter Lady Aubrey were married.

On 16th April 1743 John Aubrey 3rd Baronet (age 62) died. His son John succeeded 4th Baronet Aubrey of Llantrithyd in Glamorganshire.

[his son] John Aubrey 4th Baronet was born to John Aubrey 3rd Baronet and Mary Steally Lady Aubrey.
