Biography of Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland 1735-1780

Paternal Family Tree: Carey

Before 10th July 1728 James FitzGerald (age 13) and [his mother] Jane Butler were married. He the son of John Fitzgerald Villiers 1st Earl Grandison (age 44) and Frances Carey.

On 6th April 1734 [his father] Lucius Charles Carey 7th Viscount Falkland (age 27) and [his mother] Jane Butler were married.

In 1735 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland was born to Lucius Charles Carey 7th Viscount Falkland (age 28) and Jane Butler.

On 20th December 1751 [his mother] Jane Butler died.

In 1752 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 17) joined the army as an Ensign in the 2nd Foot Guards.

On 10th October 1752 [his father] Lucius Charles Carey 7th Viscount Falkland (age 45) and [his step-mother] Sarah Inwen Countess Suffolk were married.

In 1755 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 20) became captain in the 14th Foot which was stationed in Gibraltar for 8 years.

On 28th November 1757 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 22) and Anne Leith were married at Gibraltar.

In 1762 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 27) became major in the 74th Foot.

All About History Books

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In November 1768 [his son] Charles John Cary 9th Viscount Falkland was born to Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 33) and [his wife] Anne Leith.

On 5th November 1770 [his daughter] Lavinia Matilda Cary was born to Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 35) and [his wife] Anne Leith.

In January 1772 [his daughter] Almeria Augusta Cary was born to Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 37) and [his wife] Anne Leith.

1774 General Election

In 1774 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 39) was elected MP Bridport in the 1774 General Election.

In March 1775 [his daughter] Emilia Sophia Cary was born to Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 40) and [his wife] Anne Leith.

On 20th August 1780 Lucius Ferdinand Cary Master of Falkland (age 45) died in Tobago.
