The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

He the son of [his grandfather] Henry Somerset 5th Duke Beaufort and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Boscawen Duchess Beaufort (age 67). They were fifth cousins.
On 24th May 1817 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan was born to Fitzroy James Henry Somerset 1st Baron Raglan (age 28) and Emily Harriet Wellesley-Pole Baroness Raglan (age 25).
On 28th June 1855 [his father] Fitzroy James Henry Somerset 1st Baron Raglan (age 66) died. His son Richard (age 38) succeeded 2nd Baron Raglan.
On 25th September 1856 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 39) and Georgina Lygon Baroness Raglan (age 24) were married. She by marriage Baroness Raglan. She the daughter of Henry Beauchamp Lygon 4th Earl Beauchamp (age 72) and Susan Caroline Eliot. They were fifth cousins.
On 18th September 1857 [his son] George Somerset 3rd Baron Raglan was born to Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 40) and [his wife] Georgina Lygon Baroness Raglan (age 25).
On 8th September 1863 [his father-in-law] Henry Beauchamp Lygon 4th Earl Beauchamp (age 79) died. On 8th September 1863 His son [his brother-in-law] Henry (age 34) succeeded 5th Earl Beauchamp, 5th Viscount Elmley of Worcestershire, 5th Baron Beauchamp Powick in Worcestershire.
On 30th September 1865 [his wife] Georgina Lygon Baroness Raglan (age 33) died.
On 11th October 1871 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 54) and Mary Blanche Farquhar Baroness Raglan (age 27) were married. She by marriage Baroness Raglan. The difference in their ages was 27 years. They were first cousin once removed.
In 1881 [his mother] Emily Harriet Wellesley-Pole Baroness Raglan (age 89) died.
On 28th February 1883 [his son] George Somerset 3rd Baron Raglan (age 25) and [his daughter-in-law] Ethel Jemima Ponsonby Baroness Raglan (age 25) were married. She the daughter of Walter William Brabazon Ponsonby 7th Earl Bessborough (age 61) and Louisa Susan Cornwallis Eliot Countess Bessborough (age 57). They were second cousins.
On 3rd May 1884 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 66) died at Chesterfield Street. His son [his son] George (age 26) succeeded 3rd Baron Raglan. [his daughter-in-law] Ethel Jemima Ponsonby Baroness Raglan (age 27) by marriage Baroness Raglan.
