The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 16th December 1650 Robert Marsham 4th Baronet was born to John Marsham 1st Baronet (age 48) and Elizabeth Hammond Lady Marsham (age 38).

In 1666 Robert Marsham 4th Baronet (age 15) matriculated at St John's College, Cambridge University [Map].

On 25th May 1685 [his father] John Marsham 1st Baronet (age 82) died. His son [his brother] John succeeded 2nd Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent.

Before 17th September 1685 Robert Marsham 4th Baronet (age 34) and Margaret Bosvile were married.

On 17th September 1685 [his son] Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney was born to Robert Marsham 4th Baronet (age 34) and [his wife] Margaret Bosvile.

In 1689 [his mother] Elizabeth Hammond Lady Marsham (age 77) died.

In 1696 John Marsham 3rd Baronet died. His uncle Robert (age 45) succeeded 4th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent and inherited The Mote, Maidstone.

In 1698 Robert Marsham 4th Baronet (age 47) was elected MP Maidstone which seat he held until 1702.

On 25th July 1703 Robert Marsham 4th Baronet (age 52) died. His son [his son] Robert (age 17) succeeded 5th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent.
