Biography of William Byron 4th Baron Byron 1670-1736

In 1660 [his father] William Byron 3rd Baron Byron [aged 24] and [his mother] Elizabeth Chaworth Baroness Byron [aged 27] were married. She by marriage Baroness Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire.

On 4th January 1670 William Byron 4th Baron Byron was born to [his father] William Byron 3rd Baron Byron [aged 34] and [his mother] Elizabeth Chaworth Baroness Byron [aged 37].

On 4th October 1679 [his grandfather] Richard Byron 2nd Baron Byron [aged 73] died at Rochdale, Lancashire. His son [his father] William [aged 43] succeeded 3rd Baron Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire.

In December 1683 [his mother] Elizabeth Chaworth Baroness Byron [aged 50] died.

In 1692 [his brother-in-law] Arthur Cole 1st Baron Ranelagh [aged 23] and [his half-sister] Catherine Byron Baroness Ranelagh were married. She by marriage Lady Cole of Newland.

On 13th November 1695 [his father] William Byron 3rd Baron Byron [aged 59] died. His son William [aged 25] succeeded 4th Baron Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire.

In 1703 William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 32] and Mary Egerton Baroness Byron [aged 26] were married. She by marriage Baroness Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire. She the daughter of John Egerton 3rd Earl Bridgewater and Jane Paulet Countess Bridgewater [aged 47].

On 9th February 1703 [his brother-in-law] Scroop Egerton 1st Duke Bridgewater [aged 21] and Elizabeth Churchill Countess Bridgewater [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Countess Bridgewater. She the daughter of John Churchill 1st Duke of Marlborough [aged 52] and Sarah Jennings Duchess of Marlborough [aged 42]. He the son of John Egerton 3rd Earl Bridgewater and [his mother-in-law] Jane Paulet Countess Bridgewater [aged 47].

On 11th April 1704 [his wife] Mary Egerton Baroness Byron [aged 27] died.

On 19th December 1706 William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 36] and Frances Wilhelmina Bentinck Baroness Byron [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Baroness Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire. She the daughter of William Bentinck 1st Earl of Portland [aged 57] and Anne Villiers Countess Portland. They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 1st October 1707 [his son] George Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 37] and [his wife] Frances Wilhelmina Bentinck Baroness Byron [aged 23]. He died aged eleven in 1719.

Before 1st March 1709 [his brother-in-law] Henry Bentinck 1st Duke Portland [aged 26] and Elizabeth Noel Duchess Portland [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of Wriothesley Baptist Noel 2nd Earl Gainsborough and Catherine Greville Duchess Buckingham and Normandby. He the son of [his father-in-law] William Bentinck 1st Earl of Portland [aged 59] and Anne Villiers Countess Portland. They were third cousin twice removed.

On 6th July 1709 [his son] William Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 39] and [his wife] Frances Wilhelmina Bentinck Baroness Byron [aged 25]. He died aged less than one years old.

Around 20th July 1709 [his son] William Byron died.

On 23rd November 1709 [his father-in-law] William Bentinck 1st Earl of Portland [aged 60] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Henry [aged 27] succeeded 2nd Earl of Portland. Elizabeth Noel [aged 21] by marriage Countess of Portland.

On 23rd October 1710 [his son] William Henry Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 40] and [his wife] Frances Wilhelmina Bentinck Baroness Byron [aged 26]. He died aged less than one years old.

In November 1710 [his son] William Henry Byron died.

On 31st March 1712 [his wife] Frances Wilhelmina Bentinck Baroness Byron [aged 28] died.

In 1715 [his brother-in-law] Arthur Cole 1st Baron Ranelagh [aged 46] was created 1st Baron Ranelagh of Ranelagh in Wicklow. [his half-sister] Catherine Byron Baroness Ranelagh by marriage Baroness Ranelagh of Ranelagh in Wicklow.

On 6th July 1719 [his son] George Byron [aged 11] died.

On 3rd December 1720 William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 50] and Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 17] were married. She by marriage Baroness Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire. His third marriage. Arranged by her father William Berkeley 4th Baron Berkeley [aged 57] who described the age difference as being "disproportionate". The difference in their ages was 33 years.

On 10th November 1721 [his daughter] Isabella Byron Countess Carlisle was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 51] and [his wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 18]. She married 1743 her fourth cousin Henry Howard 4th Earl Carlisle, son of Charles Howard 3rd Earl Carlisle and Anne Capell Countess Carlisle, and had issue.

On 5th November 1722 [his son] William Byron 5th Baron Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 52] and [his wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 19]. He married before 27th October 1749 Elizabeth Shaw and had issue.

On 8th November 1723 [his son] Vice Admiral John "Foulweather Jack" Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 53] and [his wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 20]. He married 8th September 1748 his first cousin Sophia Trevannion and had issue.

On 28th October 1724 [his son] Richard Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 54] and [his wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 21].

On 22nd April 1730 [his son] George Byron was born to William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 60] and [his wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 27].

On 8th August 1736 William Byron 4th Baron Byron [aged 66] died. His son William [aged 13] succeeded 5th Baron Byron of Rochdale in Lancashire.

In 1759 [his former wife] Frances Berkeley Baroness Byron [aged 55] died.
