Around 1551 William Gerard was born to [his uncle] William Gerard (age 28) and [his mother] Dorothy Page. He was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge University [Map].

In 1584 William Gerard (age 33) was elected MP Wigan.

On 19th September 1584 [his uncle] William Gerard (age 62) died.

In 1586 William Gerard (age 35) was elected MP Wigan.

Before 23rd October 1587 William Gerard (age 36) and Dorothy Ratcliffe were married.

On 23rd October 1587 [his son] Gilbert Gerard 1st Baronet was born to William Gerard (age 36) and [his wife] Dorothy Ratcliffe. He married 1614 Mary Barrington, daughter of Francis Barrington 1st Baronet and Joan Cromwell, and had issue.

In 1591 William Gerard (age 40) was appointed Justice of the Peace Middlesex.
