Sir Frank Stenton described it as 'one of the most decisive battles of English history'. The location of the battle is not known although a number of locations have been suggested: Wroughton, Wiltshire [Map], Lydiard Park Swindon, Wiltshire and Wilton, Wiltshire [Map].
