The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." 15 May 1464 Battle of Hexham

On 26th May 1464 William Tailboys 7th Baron Kyme (age 49) was beheaded at Sandhills, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland [Map] having been captured after the Battle of Hexham. He was buried at Greyfriar's Church, Newcastle upon Tyne [Map]. His son Robert (age 13) succeeded 8th Baron Kyme. Elizabeth Heron Baroness Kyme (age 11) by marriage Baroness Kyme.

In or before 1490 George Tailboys 9th Baron Kyme (age 22) and Elizabeth Gascoigne Baroness Kyme (age 18) were married. She by marriage Baroness Kyme. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 30th January 1495 Robert Tailboys 8th Baron Kyme (age 44) died. His son George (age 28) de jure 9th Baron Kyme.

On 21st September 1538 George Tailboys 9th Baron Kyme (age 71) died. He was buried at Lincoln Cathedral [Map]. His grandson George (age 15) de jure 10th Baron Kyme.

Around 6th September 1540 George Tailboys 2nd Baron Tailboys 10th Baron Kyme (age 17) died. His brother Robert (age 12) succeeded 3rd Baron Tailboys of Kyme, de jure 11th Baron Kyme.

On 26th June 1542 Robert Tailboys 3rd Baron Tailboys 11th Baron Kyme (age 14) died. His sister Elizabeth (age 20) succeeded 4th Baroness Tailboys of Kyme. His sister Elizabeth de jure 12th Baroness Kyme
