The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 7th June 1839 Robert John Buxton 1st Baronet (age 85) died. His son John (age 50) succeeded 2nd Baronet Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk.
On 13th October 1842 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet (age 54) died. His son Robert (age 13) succeeded 3rd Baronet Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk.
On 20th January 1888 Robert Jacob Buxton 3rd Baronet (age 58) died. Baronet Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk extinct.

On 19th February 1845 Thomas Fowell Buxton 1st Baronet (age 58) died. He was buried at St Martin's Church, Overstrand [Map]. His son Edward (age 32) succeeded 2nd Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset. Catherine Gurney Lady Buxton (age 31) by marriage Lady Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 11th June 1858 Edward North Buxton 2nd Baronet (age 45) died. His son Thomas (age 21) succeeded 3rd Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 21st June 1862 Thomas Fowell Buxton 3rd Baronet (age 25) and Victoria Noel Lady Buxton (age 22) were married. She by marriage Lady Buxton of Belfield in Dorset. She the daughter of Charles Noel 1st Earl Gainsborough (age 80) and Frances Jocelyn Countess Gainsborough (age 47).
On 28th October 1915 Thomas Fowell Buxton 3rd Baronet (age 78) died. His son Thomas (age 50) succeeded 4th Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 31st May 1919 Thomas Fowell Buxton 4th Baronet (age 54) died. His son Thomas (age 29) succeeded 5th Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 28th October 1945 Thomas Fowell Buxton 5th Baronet (age 55) died. His son Thomas (age 20) succeeded 6th Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 14th November 1996 Thomas Fowell Victor Buxton 6th Baronet (age 71) died. His first cousin Jocelyn (age 72) succeeded 7th Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
On 25th April 2014 Jocelyn Charles Roden Buxton 7th Baronet (age 89) died. His nephew Crispin (age 56) succeeded 8th Baronet Buxton of Belfield in Dorset.
