On 29th May 1660, his thirtieth birthday, King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 30) was restored II King England Scotland and Ireland.

John Evelyn 1st Baronet (age 27) was created 1st Baronet Evelyn of Godstone. This is the first Baronetcy Charles II created following his Restoration indicating the high regard in which he held John Evelyn and the Evelyn family including John Evelyn (age 39).

On 10th August 1671 John Evelyn 1st Baronet (age 38) died. Baronet Evelyn of Godstone extinct.

On 6th August 1713 John Evelyn 1st Baronet (age 31) was created 1st Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey. Anne Boscawen Lady Evelyn (age 38) by marriage Lady Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey.

On 15 or 18th July 1763 John Evelyn 1st Baronet (age 81) died. He was buried at St John's Church, Wotton on 22nd July 1763. His son John (age 56) succeeded 2nd Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey.

All About History Books

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On 11th June 1767 John Evelyn 2nd Baronet (age 60) died. He was buried at St John's Church, Wotton on 19th June 1767. His son Frederick (age 33) succeeded 3rd Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey.

On 8th August 1769 Frederick Evelyn 3rd Baronet (age 35) and Mary Turton Lady Evelyn (age 24) were married at St Marylebone Church. She by marriage Lady Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey. There was no issue from the marriage.

On 1st April 1812 Frederick Evelyn 3rd Baronet (age 78) died. He was buried at St John's Church, Wotton. His first cousin once removed John (age 54) succeeded 4th Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey. His widow Mary Turton Lady Evelyn (age 67) inherited Wotton House.

On 14th May 1833 John Evelyn 4th Baronet (age 75) died unmarried. His brother Hugh (age 64) succeeded 5th Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey.

On 28th August 1848 Hugh Evelyn 5th Baronet (age 79) died without issue. He was buried on 9th September 1848 at St John's Church, Wotton. Baronet Evelyn of Wotton in Surrey extinct.
