The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1670 Varney Noel 1st Baronet died. His son William (age 28) succeeded 2nd Baronet Noel.

On 23rd April 1675 William Noel 2nd Baronet (age 33) died. His son Thomas (age 13) succeeded 3rd Baronet Noel.

In 1688 Thomas Noel 3rd Baronet (age 26) died. His brother John (age 20) succeeded 4th Baronet Noel.

On 1st July 1697 John Noel 4th Baronet (age 29) died. His son Clobery (age 2) succeeded 5th Baronet Noel.

On 30th July 1733 Clobery Noel 5th Baronet (age 38) died. His son Edward (age 17) succeeded 6th Baronet Noel.

On 31st October 1774 Edward Noel 1st Viscount Wentworth (age 59) died. His son Thomas (age 28) succeeded 2nd Viscount Wentworth, 10th Baron Wentworth. His son Thomas de jure 14th Baron Despencer, 7th Baronet Noel.

On 17th April 1815 Thomas Noel 2nd Viscount Wentworth (age 69) died without legitmate issue. Viscount Wentworth, Baronet Noel extinct. Baron Wentworth, Baron Despencer abeyant. His sister Judith Noel (age 64) inherited his estates at which time her husband Ralph Milbanke aka Noel 6th Baronet (age 67) changed his name from Milbanke to Noel by Royal Licence.
