On 22nd October 1789 George Waldegrave 4th Earl Waldegrave [aged 37] died. His son George [aged 5] succeeded 5th Earl Waldegrave, 6th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 9th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 29th June 1794 George Waldegrave 5th Earl Waldegrave [aged 9] drowned whilst swimming in the River Thames near Eton [Map]. His brother John [aged 8] succeeded 6th Earl Waldegrave, 7th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 10th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

In 1835 John James Waldegrave 6th Earl Waldegrave [aged 49] died. His son George [aged 18] succeeded 7th Earl Waldegrave, 8th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 11th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

His wife Frances Braham Countess Waldegrave [aged 25] inherited Strawberry Hill House.

On 24th October 1859 William Waldegrave 8th Earl Waldegrave [aged 70] died. His grandson William [aged 8] succeeded 9th Earl Waldegrave, 10th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 13th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 5th August 1874 William Frederick Waldegrave 9th Earl Waldegrave [aged 23] and Mary Dorothea Palmer Countess Waldegrave [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Countess Waldegrave. She the daughter of Roundell Palmer 1st Earl Selborne [aged 61] and Laura Waldegrave Countess Selborne [aged 53]. They were half first cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 12th August 1930 William Frederick Waldegrave 9th Earl Waldegrave [aged 79] died. His son William [aged 47] succeeded 10th Earl Waldegrave, 11th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 14th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 30th January 1933 William Waldegrave 10th Earl Waldegrave [aged 50] died unmarried. His uncle Henry [aged 78] succeeded 11th Earl Waldegrave, 12th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 15th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 30th December 1936 Henry Waldegrave 11th Earl Waldegrave [aged 82] died. His son Geoffrey [aged 31] succeeded 12th Earl Waldegrave, 13th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 16th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.
