The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 20th August 1663 Nicholas Barnewall 1st Viscount Barnewell (age 71) died. His son Henry succeeded 2nd Viscount Barnewall, 2nd Baron Turvey.

On 1st June 1688 Henry Barnewall 2nd Viscount Barnewall died. His son Nicholas (age 20) succeeded 3rd Viscount Barnewall, 3rd Baron Turvey. Mary Hamilton Viscountess Barnewall by marriage Viscountess Barnewall.

On 14th June 1725 Nicholas Barnewall 3rd Viscount Barnewall (age 57) died. His son Henry (age 17) succeeded 4th Viscount Barnewall, 4th Baron Turvey.

In 1774 Henry Barnewall 4th Viscount Barnewall (age 66) died. His nephew George (age 16) succeeded 5th Viscount Barnewall, 5th Baron Turvey.

In 1800 George Barnewall 5th Viscount Barnewall 1758–1800 (age 42) died. Viscount Barnewall, Baron Turvey dormant.

In 1814 Matthew Barnewall 6th Viscount Barnewallclaimed6th Viscount Barnewall, 6th Baron Turvey.

In 1834 Matthew Barnewall 6th Viscount Barnewall died. Viscount Barnewall, Baron Turvey extinct.
