Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. 1102. And the Archbishop Anselm (age 69) held a synod of clergy; and there they established many canons that belong to Christianity. And many, both French and English, were there deprived of their staves and dignity, which they either obtained with injustice, or enjoyed with dishonour. In 1331 Blanche Évreux Queen Consort France was born to Philip "Noble" III King Navarre (age 24) and Joan Capet II Queen Navarre (age 18). She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Henry III of England. Coefficient of inbreeding 5.86%.

On 16th September 1343 [her father] Philip "Noble" III King Navarre (age 37) died. His son [her brother] Charles (age 10) succeeded II King Navarre.

On 8th January 1345 Philip Duke Valois (age 8) and Blanche Évreux Queen Consort France (age 14) were married. She the daughter of Philip "Noble" III King Navarre and Joan Capet II Queen Navarre (age 32). He the son of King Philip "Fortunate" VI of France (age 51) and Joan "Lame" Burgundy Queen Consort France (age 51). They were first cousin once removed. On 6th October 1349 [her mother] Joan Capet II Queen Navarre (age 37) died.

On 11th January 1350 King Philip "Fortunate" VI of France (age 56) and Blanche Évreux Queen Consort France (age 19) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort of France. The difference in their ages was 37 years. She the daughter of Philip "Noble" III King Navarre and Joan Capet II Queen Navarre. She the daughter of William Auvergne XII Count Auvergne II Count Boulogne and [her aunt] Margaret Évreux Countess Auvergne and Boulogne. He the son of [her father-in-law] King Philip "Fortunate" VI of France (age 56) and [her mother-in-law] Joan "Lame" Burgundy Queen Consort France. They were half second cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.

On 22nd August 1350 [her father-in-law] King Philip "Fortunate" VI of France (age 56) died. His son [her brother-in-law] John (age 31) succeeded II King France: Capet Valois.

Battle of Poitiers

On 19th September 1356 the army of Edward "Black Prince" (age 26) defeated the French and Scottish army led by [her brother-in-law] King John "The Good" II of France (age 37) at the Battle of Poitiers

King John "The Good" II of France was captured by three captains including Ivon aka John Fane.

John Savile of Shelley and Golcar (age 31) probably fought having received letters of protection to travel overseas.

Hugh Courtenay 2nd or 10th Earl Devon (age 53) protected the baggage train.

The French and Scottish army included: King John "The Good" II of France, Philip "Bold" Valois II Duke Burgundy (age 14), Jean Bourbon I Count La Marche (age 12), Archibald "Grim" Douglas 3rd Earl Douglas (age 26), John "Sans Terre" Artois 1st Count of Eu (age 35); all captured.

Guichard d'Angle 1st Earl Huntingdon and William Douglas 1st Earl Douglas (age 33) fought.

Peter Bourbon Duke Bourbon (age 45) was killed. His son Louis (age 19) succeeded II Duke Bourbon.

Gauthier VI Comte de Brienne (age 54) was killed.

Death of John II King France

On 8th April 1364 [her brother-in-law] King John "The Good" II of France (age 44) died at Savoy Palace [Map] of an unknown illness. He was buried at the Basilica of St Denis [Map]. His son Charles (age 25) succeeded V King France: Capet Valois.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
