Letters of Dante Gabriel Rossetti 1864. [Fragment]. Paris. November 1864. ... I have done no work at all here for three weeks, and am sorely wanting to get home, but I stick in the mud everywhere and day after day I fail to get away .... Really, Gérome (age 40) is not a painter, though a stunner of a sort. There is a man named Millet who is the best going by far. Old Ingres is done for.
