In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. This book presents a new translation of that letter, with additional material from other contemporary sources such as Letters, Hall's and Wriothesley's Chronicles, the pamphlets of Wynkyn the Worde, the Memorial of George Constantyne, the Portuguese Letter and the Baga de Secrets, all of which are provided in Appendices.

On 28th May 1262 King Philip III of France and Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France were married. She the daughter of James I King Aragon and Violant Árpád Queen Consort Aragon. He the son of King Louis IX of France and Margaret Provence Queen Consort France.
In 1268 [his brother] Robert Bourbon 1st Count Clermont was created 1st Count Clermont.
In June 1268 [his son] King Philip IV of France was born to King Philip III of France and [his wife] Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France. He married 16th August 1284 Joan Blois I Queen Navarre, daughter of Henry I King Navarre and Blanche Capet Queen Navarre, and had issue.
In 1269 [his brother] Peter Capet Count Alençon was created Count Alençon.
On 12th March 1270 [his son] Charles Valois I Count Valois was born to King Philip III of France and [his wife] Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France. He married (1) 16th August 1290 Margaret Capet Countess Valois and had issue (2) 1302 Catherine Courtenay Countess Valois and had issue (3) 1308 Mahaut Chatillon Countess Valois, daughter of Guy Chatillon IV Count Saint Pol and Marie Capet, and had issue.
On 3rd August 1270 [his brother] John Tristan Capet Count Valois died.
On 25th August 1270 [his father] King Louis IX of France died. King Philip III of France succeeded III King France: Capet. [his wife] Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France by marriage Queen Consort France.
On 28th January 1271 [his wife] Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France died.
On 13th March 1271 Henry "Almain" Cornwall was murdered while attending mass at the Chiesa di San Silvestro, Viterbo by his cousins Simon "Younger" Montfort and Guy Montfort Count Nola in revenge for the deaths of their father Simon and older brother Henry at the Battle of Evesham.
The murder was carried out in the presence of the Cardinals, who were conducting a papal Election, King Philip III of France, and [his uncle] King Charles of Sicily. The Montfort brothers were excommunicated.
Henry "Almain" Cornwall was buried in Hailes Abbey.
The deed is mentioned by Dante Alighieri some forty years after in the Divine Comedy who placed Guy de Montfort in the seventh circle of hell.

After April 1273 [his future son-in-law] King Edward I of England travelled to Paris to pay homage to King Philip III of France for his lands in Gascony.
On 21st August 1274 King Philip III of France and Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France were married. She by marriage Queen Consort of France. She the daughter of Henry Reginar III Duke Brabant and Adelaide Burgundy Duchess Brabant. He the son of King Louis IX of France and Margaret Provence Queen Consort France.
On 3rd May 1276 [his son] Louis I Count Évreux was born to King Philip III of France and [his wife] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France. He married in or before 1303 Margaret Artois Countess Évreux and had issue.
Around 1278 [his daughter] Blanche Capet Duchess Austria was born to King Philip III of France and [his wife] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France. She married 25th May 1300 Rudolph Habsburg III Duke Austria, son of Albert Habsburg I Duke Austria and Elizabeth Carinthia Duchess Austria.
In 1279 [his daughter] Margaret of France Queen Consort England was born to King Philip III of France and [his wife] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France. She married 10th September 1299 King Edward I of England, son of King Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England, and had issue.
In 1279 [his brother-in-law] Robert II Duke Burgundy and [his sister] Agnes Capet Duchess Burgundy were married. She by marriage Duchess Burgundy. She the daughter of [his father] King Louis IX of France and [his mother] Margaret Provence Queen Consort France. He the son of Hugh IV Duke Burgundy and Yolande Capet Duchess Burgundy.
On 6th April 1284 [his brother] Peter Capet Count Alençon was killed at Salerno by Aragonese mercenaries. He had no issue; Count Alençon extinct.
On 16th August 1284 King Philip IV of France and Joan Blois I Queen Navarre were married. She by marriage Queen Consort of France. She the daughter of Henry I King Navarre and Blanche Capet Queen Navarre. He the son of King Philip III of France and Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France.
On 5th October 1285 King Philip III of France died of dysentery; see Annals of Dunstable. [his son] King Philip IV of France succeeded IV King France: Capet. [his daughter-in-law] Joan Blois I Queen Navarre by marriage Queen Consort of France.
Annals of Dunstable. [5th October 1285] Philip, king of France, during the siege of Girona, contracted dysentery and died. And his son Philip, cousin of Peter of Aragon, succeeded him.
