Biography of Pope John XII 1244-1334

In 960 Archbishop Dunstan (age 51) travelled to Rome where he received his Pallium from Pope John XII.

In 1244 Pope John XII was born in Cahors.

In 1314 Pope John XII (age 70) was elected Pope.

Declaration of Arbroath

On 6th April 1320 fifty-one Scottish magnates signed a letter to Pope John XII (age 76) declaring Scotland to be an independent sovereign state. The signatories included Malcolm Lennox 2nd Earl Lennox.

On 17th April 1320 Bishop Thomas Cantilupe was canonised by Pope John XII (age 76).

On 4th December 1344 Pope John XII died.
