On 11th June 1916 Rifleman Thomas Redfern was killed in action whilst serving with the 18th Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps; Service Number C/6583. He is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension Plot 2 B 172 Stone number 1478.

On 27th May 1940 George Coventry 10th Earl Coventry (age 39) was killed in action during the Battle of Wytschaete at La Bassée. His son George (age 6) succeeded 11th Earl Coventry.
