The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1598 César Bourbon Vendôme 1st Duke Vendôme (age 3) was created 1st Duke Vendôme.

On 16th July 1608 César Bourbon Vendôme 1st Duke Vendôme (age 14) and Françoise Lorraine Duchess Vendôme (age 15) were married. She by marriage Duchess Vendôme. He the illegitmate son of Henry IV King France (age 54) and Gabrielle d'Estrées. They were half third cousin once removed.

On 22nd October 1665 César Bourbon Vendôme 1st Duke Vendôme (age 71) died. His son Louis (age 53) succeeded 2nd Duke Vendôme.

On 6th August 1669 Louis Bourbon Vendôme 2nd Duke Vendôme (age 56) died. His son Louis (age 15) succeeded 3rd Duke Vendôme.

In 1712 Louis Joseph Bourbon Vendôme 3rd Duke Vendôme (age 58) died. His brother Philippe (age 57) succeeded 3rd Duke Vendôme.

Louis Bourbon Vendôme 2nd Duke Vendôme and Laura Macini Duchess Vendôme were married. She by marriage Duchess Vendôme. He the son of César Bourbon Vendôme 1st Duke Vendôme and Françoise Lorraine Duchess Vendôme.

Louis Joseph Bourbon Vendôme 3rd Duke Vendôme and Marie Anne Bourbon Condé Duchess Vendôme were married. She by marriage Duchess Vendôme. The difference in their ages was 24 years. She the daughter of Henri Jules Bourbon Condé Prince Condé and Anne Henriette Palatinate Simmern. He the son of Louis Bourbon Vendôme 2nd Duke Vendôme and Laura Macini Duchess Vendôme. They were fourth cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.
