Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. Biography of John Thewlis 1762-1846

On 4th April 1762 John Thewlis was born to [his father] Joshua Thewlis (age 34) at Holmfirth [Map].

On 16th April 1786 John Thewlis (age 24) and Hannah Hirst (age 22) were married at All Hallows Church, Almondbury.

Hannah Hirst: In 1764 she was born. In 1829 she died at Holmfirth [Map].

In 1804 [his daughter] Betty Thewlis was born to John Thewlis (age 41) and [his wife] Hannah Hirst (age 40) at Holmfirth [Map].

In February 1809 [his father] Joshua Thewlis (age 81) died at Holmfirth [Map].

In 1829 [his wife] Hannah Hirst (age 65) died at Holmfirth [Map].

On 18th April 1846 John Thewlis (age 84) died at Huddersfield.
