On 24th January 1779 Brinsley Butler 2nd Earl Lanesborough [aged 50] died. His son Robert [aged 19] succeeded 3rd Earl Lanesborough.

On 17th April 1806 Robert Herbert Butler 3rd Earl Lanesborough [aged 46] died. His son Brinsley [aged 22] succeeded 4th Earl Lanesborough.

On 13th June 1847 Brinsley Butler 4th Earl of Lanesborough [aged 63] died. His first cousin George [aged 52] succeeded 5th Earl Lanesborough.
