The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Viscount Mount Earl

On 3rd February 1816 Valentine Richard Wyndham-Quin 1st Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl (age 63) was created 1st Viscount Mount Earl.

On 6th August 1850 Windham Quin 2nd Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl (age 67) died. His son Edwin (age 38) succeeded 3rd Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl, 3rd Viscount Mount Earl, 3rd Baron Adare

On 14th June 1926 Windham Wyndham-Quin 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount Earl (age 85) died. His first cousin Windham (age 69) succeeded 5th Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl, 5th Viscount Mount Earl, 5th Baron Adare, 3rd Baron Kenry of Kenry in County Limerick.

On 23rd October 1952 Windham Wyndham-Quin 5th Earl of Dunraven and Mount Earl (age 95) died. His son Richard (age 65) succeeded 6th Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl, 6th Viscount Mount Earl, 6th Baron Adare, 4th Baron Kenry of Kenry in County Limerick. Nancy Yuille Countess of Dunraven and Mount-Earl (age 50) by marriage Countess Dunraven and Mount-Earl.

On 28th August 1965 Richard Wyndham-Quin 6th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl (age 78) died. His son Thady (age 25) succeeded 7th Earl Dunraven and Mount-Earl, 7th Viscount Mount Earl, 7th Baron Adare, 5th Baron Kenry of Kenry in County Limerick.
