On 13th June 1764 [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway (age 28) and [his mother] Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway (age 21) were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Alexander Stewart 6th Earl Galloway (age 70) and [his grandmother] Catherine Cochrane Countess Galloway (age 55).

In April 1797 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 29) and Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 22) were married. She the daughter of Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 52) and Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge (age 55). He the son of John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway (age 61) and Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway (age 54).

In 1798 [his daughter] Jane Stewart Duchess of Marlborough was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 29) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 23). She married 13th January 1819 her first cousin George Spencer-Churchill 6th Duke of Marlborough, son of George Spencer-Churchill 5th Duke of Marlborough and Susan Stewart Duchess of Marlborough, and had issue.

In 1799 [his daughter] Caroline Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 30) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 24).

The History of William Marshal, Earl of Chepstow and Pembroke, Regent of England. Book 1 of 2, Lines 1-10152.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

In 1800 [his son] Randolph Stewart 9th Earl Galloway was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 31) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 25). He married 9th August 1833 his second cousin Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway, daughter of Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort, and had issue.

In 1804 [his daughter] Louisa Stewart Baroness Feversham Duncombe Park was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 35) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 29). She married 18th December 1823 William Duncombe 2nd Baron Feversham, son of Charles Duncombe 1st Baron Feversham and Charlotte Legge Baroness Feversham Duncombe Park, and had issue.

In 1805 John Cole 2nd Earl Enniskillen (age 36) and [his sister-in-law] Charlotte Paget Countess Enniskillen (age 23) were married. She by marriage Countess Enniskillen. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 60) and [his mother-in-law] Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge (age 63). He the son of William Willoughby Cole 1st Earl Enniskillen and Anne Lowry-Corry Countess Enniskillen.

In 1805 [his son] Arthur Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 36) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 30). He died aged one in 1806.

In 1806 [his son] Arthur Stewart (age 1) died.

On 13th November 1806 [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway (age 70) died. His son George (age 38) succeeded 8th Earl Galloway, 7th Baronet Stewart of Corsewall, 6th Baronet Stewart of Burray in Orkney. [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 32) by marriage Countess Galloway.

In 1807 [his son] Alan Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 38) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 32). He died aged one in 1808.

In 1808 [his son] Alan Stewart (age 1) died.

In 1810 Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley (age 36) and Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 28) were divorced by an Act of Parliament following her elopement with [his brother-in-law] Henry Paget (age 41). Following the divorce, Wellesley was awarded £20,000 plus costs in damages against Paget.

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

On 29th November 1810 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 42) and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll (age 35) were divorced by an act of Parliament as a result of his having had an affair with Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 29) whose husband Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley (age 37) also sought a divorce.

After 19th December 1810 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 42) and Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 29) were married. She the daughter of Charles Sloane Cadogan 1st Earl Cadogan and Mary Churchill Countess Cadogan (age 52). He the son of [his father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 66) and [his mother-in-law] Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge (age 68).

On 13th March 1812 [his father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge (age 67) died. He was buried at Lichfield Cathedral [Map]. His son [his brother-in-law] Henry (age 43) succeeded 2nd Earl Uxbridge, 10th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 4th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd in Anglesey.

In 1813 [his daughter] Helen Stewart (age 3) died.

In 1814 [his son] Keith Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 45) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 39). He married 9th August 1841 Mary Caroline Fitzroy and had issue.

In 1818 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 49) was appointed 651st Knight of the Garter by King George IV of Great Britain and Ireland (age 55) during the Regency.

She the daughter of George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 50) and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 44). On 8th January 1830 [his mother] Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway (age 87) died.

On 9th August 1833 [his son] Randolph Stewart 9th Earl Galloway (age 33) and [his daughter-in-law] Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway (age 21) were married. On 27th March 1834 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway (age 66) died. His son Randolph (age 34) succeeded 9th Earl Galloway, 8th Baronet Stewart of Corsewall, 7th Baronet Stewart of Burray in Orkney. [his daughter-in-law] Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway (age 22) by marriage Countess Galloway.

On 30th June 1842 [his former wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway (age 67) died.

The Times. 13th February 1867. DEATH OF LORD FEVERSHAM. We regret to announce the death, after a short illness, of [his former son-in-law] Lord Feversham (deceased), which occurred on Monday night at his residence in Great Cumberland Street. The late William Duncombe Baron Feversham, of Dancombe Park, County York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, was son of Charles first Lord by his marriage with Lady Charlotte Legge, only daughter of William, second Earl of Dartmouth. He was born on the 14th of January, 1798, so that he was in his 69th year. The deceased nobleman was educted at Eton [Map], and afterwards proceeded to Christ Church, Oxford. He married l8th of December, 1823, [his daughter] Lady Louisa Stewart (age 63), third daughter of George, eighth Earl of Galloway, by whom,who survives his Lordship, he leaves issue the [his grandson] Hon. Wiliam E. Duncombe (age 38), M.P., and Captain the Hon. Cecil Duncombe, of the 1st Life Guards, and three daughters, the Hon Jane, married l1th of April, 1849, to the Hon. Laurence Parsons; the [his granddaughter] Hon. Gertrude (age 39), married 27th of November 1&19, to [his grandson-in-law] Mr. Francis Horatio Fitzroy (age 43); and the Hon. Helen, married 18th of July, 1855, to Mr. William Becket Denison. Previously to his accession to the peerage on the death of his father in July, 1841, he represented Yorkshire in the House of Commons from 1826 to 1830. At the general election in 1831 he was unsuceessful candidate for the coenty, but was returned for the North Riding in the following year, which he continued to represent till 18S1. He voted against the Reforzn Bill of 1832, and was uniformly in favour of agricultural protection. He took great interest in agricultural pursuit, And was a distinguished member of the Royal Agricultural Society, of which he was one of the trustees The deceased noblemna is succeded by his eldest son, the Hon. Wiliam Ernest Duncombe, above mentioned, who was born January 28 1829, and married, August 7, 1851, [his granddaughter-in-law] Mabel Violet (age 33), second daughter of the late Right Hon. Sir James Graham, of Netherby. He was M.P. for East Retford from February, 1852, to 1857 and elected for the North Riding of Yorkshire inI 1859, anA was also returned at the last general election After a sharp contest, being second on the poll. He is Captain of the Yorkshire Yeomianry (Hussars) Cavalry, and Lientenent Colonel of the 2d North Riding like his deceased father, he is a supporter of Lord Derby, but in favour of such a measure of Parliamentary Reforms would give no undue preponderance to any one class, but would ensure to a fair distribution of political privileges.
