The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Before 4th May 1637 John Gascoigne 1st Baronet (age 80) died. His son Thomas (age 41) succeeded 2nd Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
In 1686 Thomas Gascoigne 2nd Baronet (age 90) died. His son Thomas (age 63) succeeded 3rd Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
After 26th February 1698, when he wrote his will, and before 4th February 1689, when his will was proved, Thomas Gascoigne 3rd Baronet died. His nephew Thomas (age 39) succeeded 4th Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
Around 1718 Thomas Gascoigne 4th Baronet (age 59) died. His brother John (age 56) succeeded 5th Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
In 1723 John Gascoigne 5th Baronet (age 61) died. His son Edward succeeded 6th Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire. Mary Hungate Lady Gascoigne by marriage Lady Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
In 1750 Edward Gascoigne 6th Baronet (age 27) died. His son Edward succeeded 7th Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
On 10th January 1762 Edward Gascoigne 7th Baronet died. His brother Thomas (age 16) succeeded 8th Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
On 4th November 1784 Thomas Gascoigne 8th Baronet (age 39) and Mary Shuttleworth Lady Turner and Gascoigne (age 33) were married at All Saints Church, Aston-on-Trent [Map]. She by marriage Lady Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire.
On 11th February 1810 Thomas Gascoigne 8th Baronet (age 64) died. His death believed to have been in part caused by the death of his only child Thomas Charles Gascoigne in a hunting accident four months earlier.Baronet Gascoigne of Barnbow and Parlington in Yorkshire extinct.
