The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In November 1128 Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 23) and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 12) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Castile, Queen Consort Leon. She the daughter of Raymond Berenguer Barcelona III Count Barcelona (age 45) and Douce Gevaudan Countess Barcelona. He the son of Raymond Ivrea and Urracca "Reckless" Jiménez Queen Consort Aragon and Pamplona. They were third cousin once removed.
On 19th July 1131 [her father] Raymond Berenguer Barcelona III Count Barcelona (age 48) died. His son [her brother] Raymond (age 17) succeeded V Count Barcelona.
In 1134 [her son] Sancho III King Castile was born to [her husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 28) and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 18).
Around 1137 [her son] Ferdinand II King Leon was born to [her husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 31) and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 21).
Around 1139 [her daughter] Sancha Ivrea was born to [her husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 33) and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 23). She was the fifth child of seven born to her parents.
Around 1140 [her daughter] Constance of Castile was born to [her husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 34) and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 24).
On 15th January 1149 Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 33) died.
In 1152 [her former husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 46) and Richeza Unknown Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Castile, Queen Consort Leon. He the son of Raymond Ivrea and Urracca "Reckless" Jiménez Queen Consort Aragon and Pamplona.
On 21st August 1157 [her former husband] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon (age 52) died. His son [her son] Sancho (age 23) succeeded III King Castile. His son [her son] Ferdinand (age 20) succeeded II King Leon.
