Biography of Peter IV King Aragon 1319-1387

On 5th September 1319 Peter IV King Aragon was born to [his father] Alfonso IV King Aragon (age 19) and [his mother] Teresa Enteca Queen Consort Aragon.

On 5th November 1327 [his grandfather] James "The Just" II King Aragon (age 60) died. His son [his father] Alfonso (age 28) succeeded IV King Aragon since his eldest son wished to take holy orders.

On 24th January 1336 [his father] Alfonso IV King Aragon (age 36) died. His son Peter (age 16) succeeded IV King Aragon.

On 23rd July 1338 Peter IV King Aragon (age 18) and Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon (age 9) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Aragon. She the daughter of Philip "Noble" III King Navarre (age 32) and Joan Capet II Queen Navarre (age 26). He the son of Alfonso IV King Aragon and Teresa Enteca Queen Consort Aragon. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.

In 1343 [his daughter] Constance Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 23) and [his wife] Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon (age 14).

On 16th September 1343 [his father-in-law] Philip "Noble" III King Navarre (age 37) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Charles (age 10) succeeded II King Navarre.

On 7th November 1344 [his daughter] Joanna Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 25) and [his wife] Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon (age 15).

In 1345 [his daughter] Maria Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 25) and [his wife] Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon (age 16). She died aged three in 1348.

On 8th January 1345 Philip Duke Valois (age 8) and [his sister-in-law] Blanche Évreux Queen Consort France (age 14) were married. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Philip "Noble" III King Navarre and [his mother-in-law] Joan Capet II Queen Navarre (age 32). He the son of King Philip "Fortunate" VI of France (age 51) and Joan "Lame" Burgundy Queen Consort France (age 51). They were first cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.

In 1347 [his wife] Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon (age 18) died.

On 28th April 1347 [his son] Peter Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 27) and [his former wife] Maria Évreux Queen Consort Aragon. He died aged less than one years old.

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 3rd June 1348 [his daughter] Maria Barcelona (age 3) died.

On 27th August 1349 Peter IV King Aragon (age 29) and Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Aragon. He the son of Alfonso IV King Aragon and Teresa Enteca Queen Consort Aragon. They were second cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 27th December 1350 [his son] King John I of Aragon was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 31) and [his wife] Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.45%. He married (1) 24th June 1373 his fourth cousin once removed Martha Armagnac Queen Consort Aragon, daughter of John I Count Armagnac and Beatrice Clermont Countess Armagnac (2) 2nd February 1380 his third cousin once removed Yolande of Bar Queen Consort Aragon, daughter of Robert of Bar 1st Duke of Bar and Marie Valois Duchess Bar, and had issue.

On 29th July 1356 [his son] King Martin I of Aragon was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 36) and [his wife] Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.45%. He married (1) Maria Luna Queen Consort Aragon (2) 17th September 1409 Margaret Prades Queen Consort Aragon.

On 20th February 1358 [his daughter] Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 38) and [his wife] Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.45%. She married before 4th October 1379 her third cousin once removed John I King Castile and had issue.

In June 1362 [his son] Alfonso Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 42) and [his wife] Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.45%. He died aged one in 1364.

In July 1363 [his daughter] Constance Barcelona (age 20) died.

Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. In 1376 [his illegitimate son] Alfonso Barcelona was born illegitimately to Peter IV King Aragon (age 56) and [his future wife] Sibia Fortia Queen Consort Aragon. He died aged one in 1377.

In April 1379 [his son] Peter Barcelona was born to Peter IV King Aragon (age 59) and [his wife] Sibia Fortia Queen Consort Aragon. He died aged less than one years old.

On 13th September 1382 [his daughter] Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile (age 24) died.

Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans

Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 6th January 1387 Peter IV King Aragon (age 67) died. His son John (age 36) succeeded I King Aragon.

On 24th November 1406 [his former wife] Sibia Fortia Queen Consort Aragon died at Barcelona [Map]. She had a state funeral. She was buried in the convent of San Francisco (Framenors) in Barcelona.
