Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

The King has been pleased to direct Letters Patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting the dignity of a Viscount of the said United Kingdom unto the Right Honourable Alfred, Lord Milner [aged 48], GCB, GCMG, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style, and title of Saint James's, in the county, of London, and of Cape Town, in the Cape Colony.

On 13th May 1925 Alfred Milner 1st Viscount Milner [aged 71] died. Viscount Milner of Saint James's in London, and of Cape Town, in the Cape Colony, Baron Milner of St James' in London and Cape Town in the Cape of Good Hope extinct.
