Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester 1754-1842

Before 1751 [his father] Wenman Roberts aka Coke [aged 33] and [his mother] Elizabeth Chamberlayne [aged 17] were married.

On 6th May 1754 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester was born to Wenman Roberts aka Coke [aged 37] and Elizabeth Chamberlayne [aged 21].

In 1774 [his brother-in-law] James Dutton 1st Baron Sherborne [aged 29] and [his sister] Elizabeth Coke Baroness Sherborne [aged 21] were married.

On 25th October 1775 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 21] and Jane Dutton [aged 21] were married at Sherborne, Gloucestershire.

On 11th April 1776 [his father] Wenman Roberts aka Coke [aged 59] died.

On 2nd December 1777 [his daughter] Jane Elizabeth Coke was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 23] and [his wife] Jane Dutton [aged 24]. She married 1. 21st June 1796 Charles Nevinson Howard 2. 17th April 1806 Admiral Henry Digby, son of William Digby and Charlotte Cox, and had issue.

On 25th January 1779 [his daughter] Anne Margaret Coke Viscountess Anson was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 24] and [his wife] Jane Dutton [aged 25] at Holkham Hall, Norfolk. She married 15th September 1794 Thomas Anson 1st Viscount Anson and had issue.

On 15th September 1794 [his son-in-law] Thomas Anson 1st Viscount Anson [aged 27] and Anne Margaret Coke Viscountess Anson [aged 15] were married at St Withburga's Church, Holkham [Map]. She the daughter of Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 40] and Jane Dutton [aged 40].

On 17th April 1795 [his daughter] Elizabeth Wilhelmina Coke was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 40] and [his wife] Jane Dutton [aged 41]. She married 1822 John Spencer-Stanhope and had issue.

On 21st June 1796 [his son-in-law] Charles Nevinson Howard [aged 21] and Jane Elizabeth Coke [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 42] and Jane Dutton [aged 42].

On 2nd June 1800 [his wife] Jane Dutton [aged 46] died at Bath, Somerset [Map]. Monument in Church of St Mary the Virgin, Tittleshall [Map] sculpted by Joseph Nollekens [aged 62]. Flat obelisk background. Pedestal with inscription and supporting the carving which is centred around a broken column with standing figure of woman leaning on it in front of opened book. Angel on cloud above and putto below holding up a flaming heart.

Jane Dutton: On 29th November 1753 she was born to James Lenox Dutton and Jane Bond at Sherborne, Gloucestershire. On 25th October 1775 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester and she were married at Sherborne, Gloucestershire.

In 1803 Thomas Howard 16th Earl Suffolk 9th Earl Berkshire [aged 26] and [his niece] Elizabeth Jane Dutton Countess Suffolk and Berkshire [aged 28] were married.

On 17th April 1806 [his son-in-law] Admiral Henry Digby [aged 36] and Jane Elizabeth Coke [aged 28] were married. She the daughter of Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 51] and Jane Dutton.

On 13th December 1810 [his mother] Elizabeth Chamberlayne [aged 77] died.

On 4th May 1816 [his future brother-in-law] Augustus Frederick Keppel 5th Earl Albermarle [aged 21] and Frances Steer Countess Albemarle were married. He the son of [his future father-in-law] William Charles Keppel 4th Earl Albermarle [aged 43] and Elizabeth Southwell Countess Albermarle [aged 40].

In 1822 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 67] and Anne Amelia Keppel Countess Leicester [aged 19] were married. The difference in their ages was 48 years. She the daughter of William Charles Keppel 4th Earl Albermarle [aged 49] and Elizabeth Southwell Countess Albermarle.

In 1822 [his son-in-law] John Spencer-Stanhope [aged 34] and Elizabeth Wilhelmina Coke [aged 26] were married. She the daughter of Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 67] and Jane Dutton.

On 26th December 1822 [his son] Thomas Coke 2nd Earl of Leicester was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 68] and [his wife] Anne Amelia Keppel Countess Leicester [aged 19]. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 1. 20th April 1843 his half fifth cousin once removed Juliana Whitbread Countess Leicester and had issue 2. 26th August 1875 Georgina Caroline Cavendish Countess Leicester, daughter of William George Cavendish 2nd Baron Chesham and Henrietta Frances Lascelles Baroness Chesham, and had issue.

On 20th August 1824 [his son] Edward Keppel Coke was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 70] and [his wife] Anne Amelia Keppel Countess Leicester [aged 21]. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 5th August 1851 Diana Mary Blanche Georgiana Agar-Ellis, daughter of George James Welbore Agar 1st Baron Dover and Georgiana Howard Lady Dover.

In 3rd January 1827 [his son] Henry John Roberts was born to Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 72] and [his wife] Anne Amelia Keppel Countess Leicester [aged 24]. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 22nd July 1861 Katherine Grey Egerton, daughter of Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton and Mary Smith-Stanley Countess Wilton.

In 1837 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 82] was created 1st Earl of Leicester. [his wife] Anne Amelia Keppel Countess Leicester [aged 34] by marriage Countess of Leicester.

On 30th June 1842 Thomas Coke 1st Earl of Leicester [aged 88] died. His son Thomas [aged 19] succeeded 2nd Earl of Leicester.
