George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway 1768-1834

On 14th August 1762 [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 26] and Charlotte Mary Greville [aged 17] were married. She the daughter of Francis Greville 1st Earl Brooke Warwick Castle 1st Earl Warwick [aged 42] and Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Brooke Warwick Castle and Warwick [aged 42]. He the son of [his grandfather] Alexander Stewart 6th Earl Galloway [aged 68] and [his grandmother] Catherine Cochrane Countess Galloway [aged 53]. They were half fifth cousin once removed.

On 13th June 1764 [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 28] and [his mother] Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway [aged 21] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Alexander Stewart 6th Earl Galloway [aged 70] and [his grandmother] Catherine Cochrane Countess Galloway [aged 55].

On 24th March 1768 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway was born to John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 32] and Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway [aged 25].

On 15th September 1791 [his brother-in-law] George Spencer-Churchill 5th Duke of Marlborough [aged 25] and [his sister] Susan Stewart Duchess of Marlborough [aged 24] were married. She the daughter of [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 55] and [his mother] Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway [aged 48]. He the son of George Spencer 4th Duke of Marlborough [aged 52] and Caroline Russell Duchess of Marlborough [aged 48].

On 5th July 1795 [his future brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 27] and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey [aged 60] and Frances Twysden [aged 42]. He the son of [his future father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge [aged 51] and [his future mother-in-law] Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge [aged 53].

In April 1797 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 29] and Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 22] were married. She the daughter of Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge [aged 52] and Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge [aged 55]. He the son of John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 61] and Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway [aged 54].

In 1798 [his daughter] Jane Stewart Duchess of Marlborough was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 29] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 23]. She married 13th January 1819 her first cousin George Spencer-Churchill 6th Duke of Marlborough, son of George Spencer-Churchill 5th Duke of Marlborough and Susan Stewart Duchess of Marlborough, and had issue.

In 1799 [his daughter] Caroline Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 30] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 24].

In 1800 [his son] Randolph Stewart 9th Earl Galloway was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 31] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 25]. He married 9th August 1833 his second cousin Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway, daughter of Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort, and had issue.

In 1804 [his daughter] Louisa Stewart Baroness Feversham Duncombe Park was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 35] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 29]. She married 18th December 1823 William Duncombe 2nd Baron Feversham, son of Charles Duncombe 1st Baron Feversham and Charlotte Legge Baroness Feversham Duncombe Park, and had issue.

In 1805 John Cole 2nd Earl Enniskillen [aged 36] and [his sister-in-law] Charlotte Paget Countess Enniskillen [aged 23] were married. She by marriage Countess Enniskillen. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge [aged 60] and [his mother-in-law] Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge [aged 63]. He the son of William Willoughby Cole 1st Earl Enniskillen and Anne Lowry-Corry Countess Enniskillen.

In 1805 [his son] Arthur Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 36] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 30]. He died aged one in 1806.

In 1806 [his son] Arthur Stewart [aged 1] died.

On 13th November 1806 [his father] John Stewart 7th Earl Galloway [aged 70] died. His son George [aged 38] succeeded 8th Earl Galloway, 7th Baronet Stewart of Corsewall, 6th Baronet Stewart of Burray in Orkney. [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 32] by marriage Countess Galloway.

In 1807 [his son] Alan Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 38] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 32]. He died aged one in 1808.

In 1808 [his son] Alan Stewart [aged 1] died.

In 1810 Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley [aged 36] and Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey [aged 28] were divorced by an Act of Parliament following her elopement with [his brother-in-law] Henry Paget [aged 41]. Following the divorce, Wellesley was awarded £20,000 plus costs in damages against Paget.

In 1810 [his daughter] Helen Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 41] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 35]. She died aged three in 1813.

On 29th November 1810 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 42] and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 35] were divorced by an act of Parliament as a result of his having had an affair with Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey [aged 29] whose husband Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley [aged 37] also sought a divorce.

After 29th November 1810 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 42] and Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey [aged 29] were married. She the daughter of Charles Sloane Cadogan 1st Earl Cadogan and Mary Churchill Countess Cadogan [aged 52]. He the son of [his father-in-law] Henry Bayly-Paget 1st Earl Uxbridge [aged 66] and [his mother-in-law] Jane Champagné Countess Uxbridge [aged 68].

In 1813 [his daughter] Helen Stewart [aged 3] died.

In 1814 [his son] Keith Stewart was born to George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 45] and [his wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 39]. He married 9th August 1841 Mary Caroline Fitzroy and had issue.

On 13th January 1819 [his son-in-law] George Spencer-Churchill 6th Duke of Marlborough [aged 25] and Jane Stewart Duchess of Marlborough [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 50] and Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 44]. He the son of George Spencer-Churchill 5th Duke of Marlborough [aged 52] and Susan Stewart Duchess of Marlborough [aged 51]. They were first cousins.

On 18th December 1823 [his son-in-law] William Duncombe 2nd Baron Feversham [aged 25] and Louisa Stewart Baroness Feversham Duncombe Park [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 55] and Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 49].

On 8th January 1830 [his mother] Anne Dashwood Countess Galloway [aged 87] died.

On 9th August 1833 Randolph Stewart 9th Earl Galloway [aged 33] and Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 66] and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 62]. He the son of George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 65] and Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 58]. They were second cousins.

On 27th March 1834 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 66] died. His son Randolph [aged 34] succeeded 9th Earl Galloway, 8th Baronet Stewart of Corsewall, 7th Baronet Stewart of Burray in Orkney. Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway [aged 22] by marriage Countess Galloway.

On 30th June 1842 [his former wife] Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 67] died.
